I don’t know about you, but I always thought there’s a hint of madness in live action shows aimed at children. There’s adults dressed up in furry costumes and furniture that can talk and move. The leap to horror is not far fetched. Honestly, creepy is just not a disturbed enough adjective to describe it. Well, it’s time for the show but whatever you do, don’t sit too close to the TV.

Buddy (2026) is directed by Casper Kelly who co-wrote it with Jamie King. We start in-universe inside the TV Show Buddy where a group of children are preparing for a dance party with the help of their beloved friend, an orange-tinted unicorn named Buddy (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key). However, when one of the kids refuses to participate and disappears, a young girl named Freddy (Delaney Quinn) starts to suspect that not everything is right with this happy world.

It’s time to grab all your friends and run, because Buddy is neither a friend of you and me. And as the kids slowly accept their reality is a messed up, things start to show their true colors. The horizon they’re running to is just a cardboard backdrop but Buddy has a real ax and not afraid to use it. Even adults can get sucked into this world as Grace (Cristin Milioti) finds herself casted against her will. Now Freddy will need her help as well as her friends start dropping like flies.

Chaotically recommended for horror aficionados who like a lot of deranged craziness in the mix. This is not your average kid’s show, so don’t expect kids to be safe. If you’re part of the niche audience who doesn’t mind the creepiness factor turned to eleven, this one is worth a watch.
