The 27th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival for 2023 is coming and the first wave of films has been announced. There will be a spotlight on South Korean films which have become a mainstay in the festival throughout the years. Premiering features include the horror anthology NEW NORMAL by Jung Bum-shik, thriller THE NIGHT OWL by An Tae-jin and the action packed THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT by Lee Sang-yong, featuring legend Don Lee. Other offerings from South Korean filmmakers will also be highlighted from past years fully restored.

In addition, we also get Theresa Sutherland’s directorial debut with LOVELY, DARK AND DEEP, Victor Ginzburg’s anti-establishment vampire satire EMPIRE V, science fiction time travel with Jared Moshe’s APORIA, the return of horror master filmmakers trio the Adams family (Toby Poster, John Adams, Zelda Adams) with the world premiere of WHERE THE DEVIL ROAMS.

The festival will also present the  2023 Canadian Trailblazer Award to pioneer underground filmmaker Larry Kent including showings of the new 4K restorations of his landmark Vancouver Trilogy among other events.
