Serious spoilers lie ahead. You might want to watch the episode before reading this recap/analysis.

The Walking Dead: Indifference takes us outside for a breath of fresh air and leaves us breathless. For the medicine-gathering party it’s one of those scavengers missions. Daryl makes a good party leader, making sure to keep everyone in line.

Michonne calls Tyreese out on his brooding ways. He kind of turns the spotlight back at her for tracking the Governor, but it still feels like Tyreese is slowly coming around. He still has a couple of death wishes left in him though.

There’s a few close calls as they manage to get the medicine they need. Bob ends up being found out trying to get booze (remember, he’s an alcoholic) and has a face-down moment with Daryl.

However, they’re not the only scavenge party. With stuff running low, Rick and Carol leave the prison for a quick supply run nearby. Carol is quick to point out the elephant in the room, but Rick seems to be dodging the issue.

In the process they end up meeting two youngsters. Pay close attention and you’ll notice how Rick starts with the first of his three questions test. Eventually, Rick will seem to open up to Carol… but only slightly. As they witness one of their new found friends getting eaten and the other disappears, it seems the only thing left is to go back.

Except that Rick has other plans, and it makes you wonder if he was planning to do that all along. He’s basically deciding Carol’s punishment here, without consulting any of the group. You can see where he’s coming from but I don’t think this will be the end of the road for Carol. We’ll definitely see her again. Rick just added one more enemy he’ll have to deal with down the road.

That will do for now.
