I haven’t stop cooking. Usually now I cook by default and rarely order/eat out. Which is good, because money has been a bit of a concern lately. It will get better, but it will take time.
Last week I repeated two dishes that are turned out better the second time: butter chicken and fetuccini shrimp. This time they really shine for me.
I’ve also tried curry chicken, but the sauce was only ‘hot’ without being ‘spicy’. Another brand might do better.
Same with teriyaki beef, although it was my fault to cook it in the oven. Very hard to chew. When I boiled the rest of the meat instead, it became a stew and was really softer. It’s very hard to call it a stew without potatoes… so that might be coming up.
I also tried shrimp rice. I actually have done it a couple of times because I have this bag of cooked shrimp in the freezer that I just need to thaw a few in water and I can just drop into the very same rice cooker! They shrink a bit, but I don’t mind. It’s way easy to make with rice and adding peas and carrots but it’s a bit of a copout when I don’t want to do too much work.
The big star this week was the peanut satay chicken. I love this stuff. Perhaps a cooked it a bit much, but still it was a very wicked flavor. At this point I’ve only got leftovers of the sauces that I’m not too crazy about using: chinese curry and teriyaki. I still don’t want to just ditch them. I’ll think of something. I still have spaghetti and fettuccine that I haven’t tried this week.
I think I’ve been spamming people in facebook with my pictures so I thought I’d cut down the posts on the cooking thing since it’s still very basic stuff (all sauces are bought).
I’m finally paying the balance on my package trip for the next CMA Festival. I was very glad I deferred that payment since November and December were too crazy. Happy to pay up now and not have that hanging over my head anymore.
I’ve been reconsidering the other blog about the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar. I think I’d like to start commenting about news in general. One might think, “are you really an expert in current events?” But then, someone else might reply, “everyone considers themselves one.” Not even sure I want to start that. It’s not like I want to report on the traffic and the weather – just the big events. So I might try it on this same blog the next time something happens that I want to comment about and see how it goes.
I got a long list of things to do, but speaking about the fun ones I’d like to see if I can combine a concert and/or festival down by NC when the weather is nicer and see if I visit some friends there. If it’s Mallary Hope or the Civil Wars it would be perfect, but otherwise anything involving music or food.
You wouldn’t believe the problem I had to explain to Apple with their iTunes download service, I- wait, that’s boring. And it’s solved. Forget about it.
That will do for now.
