Spoilers wanna ride it all night long.
This one is going to be fun to review. This is because there’s very little that I can say that will convey the sense of quiet desperation in this film. Except perhaps I just did. Anyhow, I’m also going to be unable to go beyond the initial premise because if I were to disclose anything beyond that I’d be describing the entire film. So, this is where I have to get creative and talk about the film without narrating it completely.
It Ends (2025) is written and directed by Alexander Ullom. Four friends, Tyler (Mitchell Cole), James (Phinehas Yoon), Fisher (Noah Toth) and Day (Akira Jackson) are taking one final trip together before they each leave for the next chapter of their lives. The problem is that after following the directions to wherever they were headed, they find their journey is simply endless. The moment they try to turn around, there’s no road. The moment they stop… I’ll let you find that out for yourself.
This is one of those mystery thrillers where you need to realize something as it goes along. It’s not mind-breaking, it’s not life-changing, it’s just something that is the way it is. And it’s dull, it’s grinding and the odds that it will break you are against you. But it helps if you have friends to pass the time. And with that, I have already said too little and too much. Yes, it ends, it’s just not going to fulfill any high expectations. But as a film, the analogy is there.
Extremely recommended for the right audience. I think it will serve best for anybody who’s either being at a crossroad of their lives or is coming up to it. For the audience living on easy street, I don’t think it will ring any bells, but who knows. Definitely worth at watch for most audiences with some life experience, but your mileage might vary.
That will do for now.
