Spoilers think someone might die on this one.
Okey this festival, comedy seems to have been mixed into anything and everything so it’s time to go for full comedy. This one you could consider it a mix between a murder mystery and comedy but there’s no need to mince words when the film starts with the victim conversing in the afterlife. That’s not a spoiler, it’s in the title. Someone dies. Now, let’s find ourselves a murderer.
Dead Dead Full Dead (2024) is directed by Pratul Gaikwad. Young police officers Balraam (Yug Italiya) and Zubeida (Monica Chaudhary) are under the watchful eye of their senior officer Mr. Patil (Abhijeet Chavan). After a series of very unlikely events causes Mr. Patil to take off after a mocking delivery messenger and the goat they’re keeping an eye on becomes a toy (no, I am not smoking anything) they receive an urgent call. A popular fortune teller and influencer, Era (Swastika Mukherjee) has been found dead with a knife on her back. Time to gather up the suspects, we have a murder mystery in our hands.
I strongly believe that humour is always influenced by culture yet exists around the world (so does alcohol…). Commonalities are stronger than difference, but as you’ll see the humour is very much blatant in this film. And it is, for the most part very much funny for all audiences, although I do notice the timing is a bit off. Perhaps it’s just cultural, but I am used to quicker paced humour. That being said, it does work and even when one might fall flat it’s never offensive. We also get flashbacks where somehow the listeners are also brought along, provoking our very clumsy investigators to even wonder if they themselves should be considered as culprits.
Lightly recommended for light comedy for all audiences. More savvy comedy audiences might find the timing a little slow, as some jokes outlive their welcome, but still never enough to become dull. If you’re in the mood for something fun and harmless, it might suit more audiences even the casual ones.
That will do for now.
