Home for the Holidays

I once read an article about the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  He does a great job of explaining the common effect of romanticizing the past. We immigrants do this more often than anybody else. We remember only the good things of our original homelands and embellish those memories. However, if we ever get to come back we will find out that the country has moved on and that which we remember is no more. I should read Gabo’s work more often.

This visit to Ecuador has been no surprise for me. I’ve come back to Ecuador every holiday season, that makes it three years in a row, realizing how things keep changing.

More thoughts, but time’s a wasting. It’s Xmas’ eve. Happy holidays from Ecuador! I will make/add additional posts when I can.
